A vintage ceramic vessel by the mid-century Quebec artist Denise Beauchemin. Signed on underside. Active primarily in the 1950s and 60s, Beauchemin was a notable figure in the Canadian studio pottery movement. Her work is characterized by modernist forms and earthy, textured glazes, and has been featured in major exhibitions at the Musee National des Beaux-Arts du Quebec. Born in Montreal in 1927, she specialized in ceramics but also worked in mosaics, painting, and stained glass.Recognition: Her pieces were selected for prestigious exhibitions such as the 1958 Brussels World’s Fair and the 21st Ceramic National Exhibition in Syracuse, NY.
