A soapstone carving of a polar bear by Thomassie Tookalook (also known as Tamusi Qumalu Tukala), a respected Inuit artist from Puvirnituq, Quebec. Signed on underside. Thomassie Tookalook (b. 1945) Tookalook is recognized for his naturalistic carvings of animals and birds that capture traditional community life. His work has been exhibited at major institutions like the Inuit Gallery of Vancouver and features prominently in permanent collections of Eskimo sculpture.
