Indian Hand Carved Model Lion Capital of Ashoka Figure
Description
Indian hand carved model depicting the famous Lion Capital of Ashoka, the captial was erected by the Mauryan Emperor Ashoka in Sarnath, India, around 250 BCE, and features four Asiatic lions standing back-to-back symbolising power, courage, confidence and pride, the lions are mounted on a circular base with ashoka chakras around the side, this model set on a tiered round wood base.
Dimensions: Carving measures 1.5 inches H, on stand measures 3 inches.
