Description
Japanese antique hand carved lacquered wood Noh or No theatre mask representing Ryo On Onna or Ryojo, the ghost of a deceased woman with a vengeful spirit, portrayed in plays such as the Kinuta. With painted highlights and hair on gesso. Edo period 1603 – 1868, probably 18th century. Unmarked. Please see our other auctions for more Noh and Kyogen masks.
