Description
A color etching by Austrian artist Ivo Saliger (1894-1987) titled The Doctor, the Girl and Death (originally German: Der Arzt, der Tod und das Madchen), created around 1920. The composition depicts a doctor struggling with a personified skeleton (Death) for the life of a young girl. Signed lower right in pencil.
Saliger reportedly began this etching in 1919 and finished it after his sister passed away, intending it as a tribute to the work of doctors.
Dimensions: Framed, measures 36 inches H x 28 W, plate mark measures 29 inches H x 21.25 W.
