Christian Berard Gouache on Red Paper, Set Design Study for Scenery for the ballet, Hector Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique, choreographed by Léonide Massine and produced by Col. de Basil’s Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, London 1936.
Berard was a multifaceted artist celebrated for his work as a painter, fashion illustrator, and revolutionary set and costume designer. His style often featured a suggestive approach, where he used minimal elements and muted tones to enhance the performances rather than distract from them.
Dimensions: 11 inches H x 18.5 W sight, frame measures 17 x 24.5 inches w.
