Description
Vietnamese lacquer panel, attributed to Thanh Le, depicting rice-field workers in conical hats planting or harvesting in a wetland landscape. Executed in a high-contrast black-and-white palette using dense eggshell inlay / crushed-shell lacquer to create a fractured mosaic surface, with black lacquer silhouettes forming the figures, reeds, hats, and field lines.
Reverse finished in black lacquer with hanging mount and chalked Thanh Le signature/attribution. Likely mid-20th century Vietnam, circa 1950s-1970s.
