Hutton Mitchell (Scottish/Canadian, 1872-1939) Oil on Faced Board depicting a moody winter landscape. Signed lower left.


Artistic Style: His work often features quiet, atmospheric landscapes. He frequently painted winter scenes, especially those set in the Laurentians and other parts of Quebec. 
Family Legacy: His son, Bruce Mitchell (1912-1995), was also a well-known Montreal artist who studied under his father and specialized in Quebec landscapes.
Dimensions: Board measures 7 inches H x 10 W. Frame measures 10.5 inches x 13.5 inches.
