Description

An ancient Roman glass perfume or ointment bottle. These vessels, typically made of blown glass, were common throughout the Roman Imperial Period, specifically between the 1st and 3rd centuries AD. 


Purpose: Small bottles like this were frequently used for holding perfumed oils, cosmetics, or pharmaceutical substances. 
Material and Craftsmanship: The greenish-yellow or olive tint of the glass is often due to small amounts of iron in the raw ingredients (sand and nitrate) used during manufacturing. 
Dimensions: 3 inches.
