Utagawa Kuniyoshi (1798-1861) woodblock print titled Hatakeyama Shigetada Sitting Next to a Go Board. 

Artist and Era: Created by Utagawa Kuniyoshi around 1845 during Japan’s Edo period. 
Subject: The print depicts the samurai Hatakeyama Shigetada holding a fan next to a Go board, with game pieces spilled on the floor. 
Series: It is sheet 1 from the series Genji kumo ukiyoe awase (Comparisons of Ukiyo-e and the Cloudy Genji), connecting historical figures to chapters in The Tale of Genji. 
Art Style: oban tate-e (large vertical) woodblock print.
Dimensions: Loose sheet measures 13.75 inches H x 9 W.
