Robert Four Aubusson Pastoral Scene Tapestry, Idylle, XVIII C Design, Made in France
Description
Decorative tapestry produced by the Manufacture Robert Four, Aubusson, after an 18th-century French design, titled "Idylle" or "Pastoral Scene, ".
The composition depicts a pastoral scene in the Rococo taste, with elegant figures in a wooded landscape framed by a decorative floral border. Executed in the traditional Aubusson style, the piece is a 20th-century serigraph-printed reproduction on woven wool support, faithfully emulating antique tapestry techniques and coloration. Inspired by the 18th-century work of artist François Boucher, this decorative piece features a lush landscape with a reclining couple and sheep.
The reverse retains its original printed label reading “Manufacture Robert Four – Paris, Aubusson, ” specifying that the work is a replica of an ancient tapestry printed in silkscreen on old-style woven fabric. Marked “Made in France” and bearing a serial number.
