Thai Cast Bronze Seated Buddha in Bhumisparsa Mudra
Description
Seated Buddha in Bhumisparsa Mudra (Earth-Touching Gesture) Cast bronze with partial gilding.
The Buddha is shown with a serene expression, elongated earlobes, and tightly coiled snail-shell curls surmounted by a stylized flame finial ushnisha. The robe is worn diagonally across the torso, leaving one shoulder bare, and retains extensive original gilt surface, particularly across the robe and base.
The sculpture is hollow-cast and retains its chalk / lime infill, visible from the underside. The surface exhibits wear, oxidation, and areas of green patina.
