Lot 111:
A Carved Japanese Okimono of a Geisha
Description
A Japanese carved okimono depicting a standing geisha in traditional attire. Likely dating to the Meiji period (1868-1912), the figure is rendered in a formal kimono decorated with incised four-petaled floral motifs and holds a closed parasol. Detail is evident in the hair, which is gathered into a small bun, and the facial features, both of which are accentuated with dark pigment. The item displays minor age-related wear consistent with its period. There is a small vertical hairline crack on the reverse of the figure and minor fissures on the underside of the base. Measuring 4 inches H. THIS LOT CANNOT BE EXPORTED FROM CANADA.
