Antique Japanese Cinnabar Scholars Cabinet, Taisho Period (1912-1926)
Description
The top and sides decorated with fauna and flora motifs within cartouche shaped panels, fronted by a pair of cabinet doors decorated with flying cranes and clouds, their obverse decorated with dragonfly motifs. The interior showing six small drawers with brass pulls and foliate back-plates, surmounting a base fitted with a single full width drawer with a naturalistically modelled bee-shaped brass pull. Raised overall upon bracket supports. Dimensions, 14 inches H x 12.25 W x 7 deep. Minor loss to red lacquer on feet, as shown.
