Description
Native American cradleboard / Papoose Carrying Board found in Kamouraska, Quebec c. 1920. A traditional carrying device used to transport infants. It features a wooden backboard for support and a protective bentwood hoop at the top.
Usage: Babies were swaddled and laced into the soft fabric pouch to keep them secure while being carried on a parent’s back or propped against a wall.
Materials: Constructed from wood, leather, and fabric.
Measuring: 20 inches L x 10 W x 8 deep.
