Inuit Soapstone Bear Sculpture, Signed in Syllabics
Description
Inuit soapstone carving of a standing bear depicted upright on its hind legs with forelegs extended. The figure is carved in a compact, balanced form with rounded shoulders, defined paws, and incised eyes. The stone is dark green with natural lighter veining throughout, polished to a soft sheen.
The underside bears an incised signature in syllabics along with a carved inventory number.
