Mid Century Mexican Brass and Hardstone Inlaid Box
Description
A striking mid-century brass box featuring an intricate inlay of crushed malachite, azurite and related copper-ore stones set beneath a polished surface. The lid is decorated with a stylized Aztec-inspired eagle motif, executed in cut brass against the vivid green-blue mineral field.
The interior is lined in wood; the underside is plain brass with folded corner brackets typical of Mexican artisan workshops of the mid-20th century. Marked Hecho en Mexico on underside.
Dimensions: 7.5 × 4.5 × 1 in.
Condition: Light surface wear and expected patina to brass; stones intact and vibrant. Hinge functioning well.
