Early and scarce Canadian sterling silver goblet trophy made by James E. Ellis, Toronto.
Measuring 7.5 inches H x 4.5 W, weighing 304 grams.
Inscribed: Arnprior Exhibition 1874
Awarded to J & W Thompson for The Best Herd of Cattle.
Ellis was operating between 1848 and 1878. In 1879 his nephews Philip and Matthew carried on the business. The firm was taken over by Birks in 1928.
