Antique Japanese Nihonto Wakizashi Kanenaga Signed
Description
Early Edo Kanbun period(1661-1673) signed Fujiwara Kanenaga long wakizashi. Kanenaga lived in Ski, in Mino province. The sword is 30 inches overall with a 22 inches blade. The blade is in very good condition, with very few tiny scratches. The koshirae or mountings is exceptional and very elaborate. The fuchi and kashira are highly decorated with gold inserts of flower motifs. The blue silk-cord tsuka or handle is in great shape. The saya or scabbard is also richly decorated with a deeply carved Shishi lion at the tip of it. The tsuba has a seldom seen tapered shape with a mare and foal carved in it. Overall a very outstanding Japanese sword. Signed, no papers. With silk bag.
