Description
Hand-coloured engraving depicting The Death of General Wolfe, after the celebrated composition by Benjamin West, illustrating the mortally wounded British general being attended by officers during the Battle of the Plains of Abraham (1759). The inscription along the lower margin reads “The Death of General Wolfe, ” with publication details indicating sale by Lenoir, Printseller to His Majesty, at the Louvre, Rue du Coq, St. Honoré, Paris. Housed in an ornate giltwood frame with layered mats.
