Timungjuk (Inuit, 20th Century) Large Serpentine Seal Carving
Description
An impressive and finely carved Inuit sculpture of a seal, signed Timungjuk, a recognized artist from the mid-20th century. Executed in dark serpentine stone, the work depicts a robust, stylized seal with flippers spread, its form capturing both weight and grace. The artist has paid close attention to the anatomy, rendering the flowing curves of the body with a sense of movement. Its scale and deep polish make it a striking example of Inuit stone carving.
Size: 12.5 x 6 in. (32 x 15 cm).
Condition: Good with expected surface wear consistent with age.
Signed: Incised, with original Co-op label and inventory number.
