Description
Kongo Power Figure (Nkisi Nkondi), Democratic Republic of Congo, carved in wood and studded with dozens of iron nails. The torso is pierced with iron blades and nails, eyes of glass. Traces of kaolin pigment and original textile remnants are present.. 23 inches H x 9 W. Wear, oxidation to metal elements, minor losses consistent with age. Some encrustation and signs of ritual use. Age cracks to wood, base somewhat destabilized.
