Description
Antique samurai armour from the Edo period, (1603-1868) all complete, this traveling armour (all pieces can be folded) comes with the original armour box or Hitsu. A rare and fine example, all pieces, kabuto, (helmet) Dou, (cuirass) sode, (shoulders protection) kotec (arms sleeves) haidate (thighs protection) and suneate (lower leg protection) they all have the same pattern and colors. The kabuto is exceptional with the Fukigaeshi (helmet ears) showing brass kamon (family crest), a nice Sakura (cherry blossom) brass maedate (front decoration) and a wooden ushirodate (back helmet decoration) of a full moon. The helmet is called Chochin, a collapsible one made for traveling. All pieces can go in the small Hitsu armour box. No black bases included.. 63 inches H x 23 W as displayed. Some wear and distress in keeping with age.
