Toltec terracotta sculptural head depicting Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent deity of Mesoamerican mythology. The piece is mounted on a wooden base and accompanied by an archaeological label indicating it was recovered in 1984 during formal excavations at Tula, the ancient Toltec capital in modern-day Hidalgo, Mexico. According to the label, the artifact is attributed to the 6th century CE, during the height of the Toltec civilization.
