19th C Chinese Export Junk Boat Painting on Pith Paper. Deaccessioned from the Royal Ontario Museum in 1984. Noted on verso, Royal Ontario Museum, Nov. 30/84. Ka Bo Tsang, Far Eastern Division. Chinese Junk: – quite commonly used in southern part of China along the coast; – family lived on the boat; – flags on stern are yin / yang symbols; – eyes on bow are special feature of kind of junk- Cantonese Chicken Eye; Image measures H 10.5 x W 12.5, framed, H 14 x W 16.5.
