Henry Labbe (French, 1845 - 1919) Haystacks
Haystacks at Sunset oil painting on wood panel, painted by Henry Labbe in 1919. Executed in the impressionist style, the painting depicts a pair of haystacks against a sunset. Henry Labbe ( Santes, 1845 to 1919) was a Member of the foyer artistique de Santes from 1875 to 1914 with artists such as Emlle BRETON, Alexandre BOIRON, Emile ANCELET and Julien SCHMIDT. As a contemporary of Claude Monet, he executed this impressionist work after the famous series. Measures 19 x 27 cm and has two repairs to severe slits in the wood panel.
