Antique French Reliquary Column of Flagellation

Antique French reliquary containing a small fragment of the column of flagellation (columna flagellationis) of Our Lord Jesus Christ (Dominus Noster Jesus Christus). The column of flagellation to which Christ had been tied during the Scourging at the Pillar was made of marble. Case Approx 5.75 cm across. Script writing on paper, sealed with a crested was seal. Provenance: Collection of a monastery in Artigues-Pres-Bordeaux, France.
