Antique Japanese Samurai Terukane Katana Sword
Authentic very long katana, signed by Sakakura Gonnoshin Terukane, and dated Tenwa 2 Nen 8 Gatsunichi. (1680) the blade is carved and nicely detailed, with a length of 29.2 inches and overall length of 42 inches. Blade condition is good with blemishes and scratches. Fuchi is signed and both fuchi and kashira are very detailed. The tsuba is very nice and the saya (scabbard) is in good condition with some scratches. Signed, no papers, with silk bag . Circa 1680. Terukane is a swordsmith of the Mino Terukado school. He went up to Osaka and became an apprentice with Echigo-no-Kami Kanesada, a very famous swordsmith. Most of his work was done around 1680.
