Early Edo large size Sodegarami or sleeve entangler. The opposite end of the pole has a metal cap or ishizuki like other samurai pole weapons. The pole is sturdy hardwood and measure 93 inches. It was also used by the samurai’s police as an effective and feared weapon to capture criminals in feudal Japan. Circa 1700-1750
