Edo period (1600-1868) authentic samurai armour all complete with a hitsu or storage box, this Mid-Edo armor is in very good condition. The Ni-mai Dou (two-pieces cuirass) is all iron and shows a beautiful blue-lacing and a nice color. The kabuto (helmet) is a Momonari type, inspired by the encounters between the samurais and the European merchants and soldiers back in the 1500s-1600s. The Sode, or side shoulders protection, are all iron and silk, and shows high grade lacing called Kebiki. The Menpo, or face protector, is all iron and shows a very keen expression. The red samurai’s clan Kamon Maedate (decoration in front of kabuto) completes this nice armour worthy of any great samurai armour collectors. Circa 1750-1800. Black base not included.
