Edo Japanese Samurai Sasumata Big Spear Fork
Early Edo very rare and large size Sasumata or spear fork. The fork is heavy iron, and shaped as a giant fork to immobilize thief and criminals. The pole is 89 inches and made of sturdy hardwood. Used by samurais and police samurais in feudal Japan, this type of spear was among the most feared of all Japanese weapons. Circa 1700-1750
